Affiliate marketing is essentially the art of promoting other people’s products for a commission. There are tremendous advantages to this:

So to reiterate, all you have to do is set up your own website, drive traffic to your website, put in an affiliate link which contains the product you are promoting, and if a sale is made, you get a commission. There are literally thousands of affiliate programs out there.

The money can add up. For example, if you are promoting a product that gives you $40 in commission per sale, and you sell 10 a week, that’s $400 a week and $1600 a month!…all in passive income!

One of the best affiliate marketing techniques to get traffic to your site is to build backlinks. Backlinks are links that point back to your website. Think of a backlink as a vote of confidence in your website. So if an independent website links to yours, you get a “vote.”  The search engines love backlinks. All other things equal, the more backlinks you get, the more traffic you get, and the more money you make.

One of the most effective ways to get backlinks for your affiliate site is through article marketing. You write an article, put backlinks in it, and submit it to an article submission directory site like www.ezinearticles.com. Once your article is published, you have live backlinks to your site. Viola! Again, in general, the more backlinks you have, the higher you will rank in Google, and the more traffic/money you will make.

There is one caveat: writing articles can be time consuming. You also can only submit an article ONE time. So you cannot spam your article all around the Internet to different article directories. The search engines work hard to avoid plagiarism and HATE duplicate content.
